About Un Petit Monde
Un Petit Monde is French for "A Small World". My wife (Edwige) and I started this photo project in the summer of 2010 as a way to relax and explore a more creative side of my photography. It has grown into a passion of ours and we now focus our time on planning, creating, processing and building a library of fine art photographs revolving around miniature figures.
In the early 1990's I pursued a career in graphic design. I spent most of that decade as a website Production Designer and Information Architect. Some of my clients included Northwest Airlines, Best Buy, American Tool, Dayton Hudson, Piper Jaffery, Radisson Hotels and USBank. In 1999, I left the agency I was working for to begin a career as a freelance web designer. I continued working on websites and creating digital content for cell phones and handheld media devices. In 2004, I made the transition from full-time website designer to full-time photographer. I began as an event photographer and in time added editorial and commercial work to my resume. |
Edwige, was born in Paris and grew up on the French island of St. Martin. She came up with the title for our project and works as the project coordinator researching, planning and organizing all of our photo shoots.
She has worked as a sales and PR consultant for a resort on St. Martin and in 2006 she began donating her time teaching French to Americans at the Alliance Francaise in Minneapolis. In 2007 we moved to Vancouver British Columbia for 11 months. During that time, Edwige was employed at the Alliance Francaise of Vancouver and continued to teach French classes to adults and children. In 2008 we moved back to Minnesota where Edwige spent the next two years as a Teaching Assistant at a French Immersion school in St. Paul. Our project, Un Petit Monde, combines the challenges of capturing an evocative, aesthetically pleasing image while documenting a scene in the real world environment using only available light and existing conditions. Ultimately, it is our mission to share some of the fun and joy for life with you through our project. Thank you for visiting our site! Kurt & Edwige |
